I absolutely love a food fest. They offer something for everyone and are a great way to support local and beyond. Plus, I love to see what new foods are on the market, especially for those with food sensitivities.
Every September, Leamington Spa hosts the Leam Food Fest. I had it in my diary months before to be sure not to miss it!
But naturally, what happens when there’s an outdoor event planned in the UK? It rains, that’s what! There I was, up on the Saturday like an eager beaver only to look out the window to see a grey, miserable, rainy day. Fortunately, the rain eased later in the afternoon (and the Sunday, which I couldn’t make, just so happened to be a glorious September day so I’ll stop moaning about the weather like a typical British person.) 😉
The burning question: How do you tackle a food festival? A plan of action is very important! I tend to have a nosey at all the stalls first and then go back to my favourites and make any purchases. Has to be done. Even if they do tend to be massively expensive. It’s a food festival after all. Let’s push the boat out.
So, without further babbling, I thought I’d share three foodie finds I picked up at the Leamington Food Fest:
CAKE by Coffee Architects
I was too busy gawping at these to take a note of the company! I later found out these are by Coffee Architects, located locally in Leamington Spa. Don’t they look delicious?! I opted for the salted chocolate cake that you can see pictured and the raspberry cake, not pictured. My boyfriend was rather pleased when I came home with these. As expected, they tasted as good as they looked. Needless to say, I’ll be making a visit to Coffee Architects for more of the same (their whole menu looks great and they accommodate different dietary needs – wonderful.)
Gluten-free Spinach Pasta by La Triestina
I love spinach, I love pasta and I always stick to gluten-free pasta so when I saw this it was a no-brainer. It was very pricey, but it’s not something I would buy everyday and I know I’ll enjoy it. Special treat. Now the question is ‘what to have with it?!’
Chocolate by Fiona Sciolti
If you’ve been on my Instagram or followed my blog previously, you’ll know I have a rather sweet tooth (understatement), with a particular love for chocolate. So there was no way I was going to a food fest and coming away without! Cue Fiona Sciolti. Not a name I had come across before. After looking online, I found that you can buy online or at certain stockists. Looks amazing. All handmade and some great flavour options. I love chocolate orange, so let’s see what it’s like with chilli.
There completes my foodie finds. I was on the lookout for chilli jam, but didn’t come across one without ingredients like garlic and apple and I KNOW you can find it without (I’ve bought it from a local supplier before). Nevermind – my bank balance will thank me for it!
This was my second year at the event, but my first since moving nearby. I’ll be back.
